In 1832 the Conservatory received its official name, but predecessor exists since 1813. There was a split in 1967 into two separate entities: Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, which teaches in Dutch and English, and the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, which continued teaching in French.
